Pan Pacific Masters Games SUP

The Pan Pacific Masters Games is being held on the Gold Coast in November. There are 45 sports on offer and SUP is back on the schedule! This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for those passionate about SUP to take part in an international event that is right in our backyard. Yes, we'll have homeground advantage!  The Masters Games are all about participation and that's what BrisSUP are known for - giving it a go. This is BrisSUP's time to shine as one of the major SUP clubs in Queensland with a good turnout. Events: Sprint - 200m Technical race Marathon (15 or 10km TBA) Relay Volunteers and supporters are needed as well, so break out those BrisSUP signature t-shirts and join in the fun. Tech Race + Social Paddle The final race in our 2024 BrisSUP race series is a technical race at Wellington Point. It is also a Social Paddle event so we'll have most of the club there on the day. So some will be exploring while others race. And a BBQ to follow. Venue: Wellington Point Race briefing: 8:00am Race starts:  8:15am This is the final race for club championship points so it should be a hotly contested race with plenty of action. The first race counts for points. There will be some "fun"races to follow the first (serious) race. A chance for everyone to get into the spirit. Course will be dependent on the weather conditions on the day. Presentations: Medal presentations will be made to our top paddlers across the year. BBQ and social under the trees after the event. Please bring a plate. We have a fantastic day planned for our next Brissup social paddle! Tinchi Tamba Wetlands. A new creek to explore. Lots of little mangrove inlets. Old wooden jetties. Bird hides. A mangrove tunnel. A sandy beach stop. And a very cool lunch destination! Hoping some of our northside members can make this paddle. Time: Meet no later than 8am Where to meet: Dohles Rock Road Boat Ramp where we will explore the Tinchi Tamba Wetlands. Directions: If coming from Brisbane use exit 130 northbound (first turn off after crossing the Pine River). This is going to be a leisurely paddle but will be around 10kms in total. Know your ability and be prepared to be on the water for 3 hours. BBQ lunch: After the paddle we will have a BBQ at Osprey House which is only 400m down the road. Osprey House is an environmental centre which has BBQ and picnic facilities. Please bring a plate to share with the group. Safety: Leg or waist ropes are compulsory. BrisSUP Club proudly presents the Coochie Classic 2024 The Coochie Classic has become one of the highlights in the SUP racing calendar, attracting some of the best SUP racers from across Queensland and interstate. The changing conditions around Coochiemudlo Island make it a technically challenging race and for many, just 'conquering Coochie' has become a personal challenge. This will be the second race in the interclub GP One Consulting Triseries so competition will be fierce between the clubs. Race registration opens on 27 August & closes midnight Friday 27 September NO late registrations. No on-the-day registrations. Race Day Times Race briefing is at 7:20am  Race start is at 7:40am Race day sign-on opens 6:30am Course options SHORT (4km) and LONG (8km around the island). The long course will commence at Les Moore Park (standing water start) will then head towards the island paddling anti-clockwise around the island. Details to be confirmed on the event day. The short course will also commence at Les Moore  Park and paddlers will follow the long course over to the main land and at the 2km mark they will round a buoy anti-clockwise and head back to the starting location. REGISTRATION Registration opens on 27 August & closes midnight Friday 27 September. NO late entries and no entries on the day. Registration fee - $70 per person The first 100 competitors registered will receive a BrisSUP gift pack, first come first serve. All competitors will get a choice from our selection of of fresh wraps and sandwiches and a drink. Loads of lucky door prizes thanks to our generous sponsorship. To paddle in this event, you must be a member of one of the following clubs to cover you for insurance under Surfing Queensland. BrisSUP Club 4670 SUP Club Sunshine Coast SUP Club SUS Inc. If you are not a current member of one of the nominated SUP clubs, please join your local SUP Club to help support and grow the sport, or alternatively, take out a BrisSUP Club day membership for $10.  If you are not a member of a SUP Club, race registration will be a two step process: 1. Join and pay for a BrisSUP Club membership through the Surfing Queensland online portal. Day memberships for 27 September can be purchased at any time. 2. Register for Coochie Classic 2024 and pay the race fee. Claiming the date   Join us for another fun day on the water. Meeting at Jacobs Well we will explore the area known as Southern Moreton Bay Islands. Anthony Johnston has generously offered to be our guide on the day. The adventure route will depend on the weather and wind on the day. We will meet no later than 7.30 am around the enclosed swimming pool area and plan to be on the water ASAP. After the paddle we have two options - go to the local pub for lunch or one of the local cafes, majority will win on the day. Safety Leg ropes are compulsory!!! This is a members‘ club event for financial members only. Follow club Facebook posts for more information.   Clearwater Classic  The Clearwater Classic is one of the Triseries races and is organised by the 4670 SUP Club.  The course up the scenic Elliott River has something for everyone. A 5km short course and the 10km long course. Newcomers, don't miss this chance for a classic paddle. On Saturday afternoon the technical race down on the beach provides a challenge for those who enjoy the surf. Details on the 4670 website.

Join us for social paddles and a club-sponsored pizza social evening on Saturday 25 May. Details to follow Many of the group will be staying at the Terrace Reserve Holiday Park. Follow us on Facebook for updates on the weekend.   About the Mullum2Bruns paddle To enter the paddle, head to the Mullum2Bruns website . This is an annual event held on the Brunswick River, starting at Heritage Park in Mullumbimby and ending at the Terrace Park in Brunswick Heads. The 10km event attracts approximately 1000 paddlers each year. There is the fun paddle as well as the Paddle Challenge race for those with a need for speed.
